In light of recent events, ACRL-OR wholeheartedly offers its solidarity and support to Portland State University Library. PSU Library has long been a place of gathering and community for university and public users alike to access information services and resources. Despite this tumultuous time, we know the Library will find ways to continue supporting its community and have no doubt that as the Library and its staff move forward, they will emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before.

Even in times of dissent, academic libraries are beacons of hope and sanctuary for campus communities across the country as safe and peaceful places to engage in the exchange of ideas, discovery, and exploration. While the building itself is a symbol of hope and sanctuary, it also needs people working inside dedicated to those principles. The librarians and library workers at PSU library are the heart and soul of the institution. These individuals strive to ensure those principles of exchanging ideas, discovery, and exploration are readily available to all who walk through their doors. PSU Library has been and will remain a refuge for its users  and our ACRL-OR community fully stands alongside them as they continue their mission “To lead the intellectual vitality, knowledge development, and creativity of the Portland State University community”.
