Open Positions at Western Washington University

Western Washington University Libraries have just announced two new positions: one is the Director of Scholarly Resources and Collection Services and the other is Scholarly Communications Librarian.

Director of Scholarly Resources and Collection Services

The Director of Scholarly Resources and Collection Services has responsibility for leading and administering collection development and collection services, and overseeing scholarly communications at the Western Washington University Libraries.  In this highly visible position, the Director provides leadership for the selection and management of collections, including oversight for the resource access budget, cataloging, acquisitions, ILL, circulation, and scholarly communication.  The Director coordinates the development and promotion of sustainable models of scholarly communication as it evolves on campus and in the library profession and supervises the Scholarly Communications Librarian in charge of the Institutional Repository and open access publishing.  The Director works closely with library leadership, staff, and external stakeholders to develop other digital initiatives.  The Director reports to the Dean of Libraries and serves on the Dean’s Leadership Group. This is a full time, tenure track faculty position. Rank and salary to be determined by qualifications.

Scholarly Communications Librarian

Western Washington University Libraries seeks an innovative, forward-looking librarian who will build and promote the Institutional Repository (IR), as well as further scholarly communication as a strategic priority for Western Libraries.  Reporting to the Director of Scholarly Resources and Collection Services, this is a 12 month, tenure track faculty appointment.

The Scholarly Communications Librarian has responsibility for developing and implementing the Libraries’ scholarly communications programs and initiatives.  This person will manage the daily operations of the IR as well as create and update IR policies on campus, and will develop education and outreach related to all scholarly communication on campus. The ideal candidate will have a background and experience in scholarly communications and copyright issues.
