University of Portland: Library renovation starts soon

The University of Portland’s Clark Memorial Library will be undergoing a major renovation beginning this May and ending in Summer 2013. The Library first opened in 1958 and was last updated in 1979.

This renovation and re-imagining of the Library is a result of the University’s successful RISE campaign, and of much dreaming and planning. The renovation will bring the facility into the 21st century with the concept of the library as the campus learning commons, including innovative study spaces, 24/7 access, and an expanded Media Lab. The renovated library will welcome visitors with a new entrance plaza on the campus quad, and will be LEED certified and seismically upgraded. During construction, the Library will be relocating to a campus interim location. To learn more about this project and the interim year please visit: http://tinyurl.com/libreno
