Rare Bible display and traveling exhibit on the King James Bible at NCU

Northwest Christian University is proud to be one of 40 libraries across the US to host the traveling ALA exhibit Manifold Greatness: The Creation and Afterlife of the King James Bible. Funded by the NEH and based on artifacts and exhibits at the Bodleian Library, Oxford University, England, and the Folger Shakespeare Library, Washington, D.C., the 14 panels of the exhibit explore English Bibles prior to the King James Version, the creation of the King James version itself, and its impact and afterlife throughout our culture, language, and literature. 2011 marks the 400 year anniversary of the first publication of the King James Bible.

In addition to the traveling exhibit, NCU has several early English language bibles from its own collection on display. These include several early King James Bibles and Bibles pre-dating the King James.

The ALA traveling exhibit will be in the NCU library through Oct 28. NCU’s rare bibles will be on display throughout the semester until early December.Visitors view some of the panels in the traveling exhibit Manifold Greatness: The Creation and Afterlife of the King James BibleSome of NCU's early English bibles
